Summer's over, Labor Day's come and gone, and kids are back in school. After taking a month off—for a breather at the beach and completing a studio move—it's been all work and no play, along with some good news from Creative Quarterly.❧ Some recent work and one from the archive...
Sneakers
A recent spread for Entrepreneur Magazine about the small (and not-so-small) fortunes being made in the sneaker resale business. Not only did I learn something about sneakers—it helps to have a teenager in the house to advise me on what's cool (Yeezy Boost) and what's not (my sneakers)—I managed to pick up nod from Creative Quarterly 57. A big thanks to Paul Scirecalabrisotto, Entrepreneur's art director, for the opportunity.
Shooting Gallery (sitting ducks)
A very recent piece, on the epidemic of mass shootings in the USA that have turned the country into a shooting gallery.
Creative Quarterly 57, part 2
Another illustration that received a thumbs-up from Creative Quarterly 57. This was front-page piece for the Dallas Morning News, previewing the annual Book and Ideas Fair. Thanks to the folks at CQ57 for the recognition, and as always it was a pleasure to work with art director Michael Hogue.
Labor Day
A look back in recognition of Labor Day. This was a piece that was shown in the Manifest Hope exhibition in Washington, DC in the runup to the inauguration of Barack Obama. Selected artists created artwork that reflected one of several issues central to the Obama campaign. I chose to illustrate American Labor, and am still proud that it was included in the show.
